That being said. it's less of a cover and more of a song that Dylan gave to the Band willingly.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2448601238585270507.post-13952625854960973552009-06-01T11:07:16.647-07:002009-06-01T11:07:16.647-07:00Every song on Bob Dylan's album Basement Tapes...Every song on Bob Dylan's album Basement Tapes rated & commentedAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2448601238585270507.post-9711992622403958932009-04-13T18:31:00.000-07:002009-04-13T18:31:00.000-07:00i enjoy your posts. i haven't looked at the Peter ...i enjoy your posts. i haven't looked at the Peter Viney essay, but it's funny - for some reason the song has always made me think of King Lear, too.

I'm no scholar and don't have particular references or anything. I actually thought it might be partially because I discovered the song and the play at about the same time.

anyhow, it was interesting that someone else made that connection.

keep up the good work.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08965277874184249102noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2448601238585270507.post-46099902302257567772009-04-13T09:48:00.000-07:002009-04-13T09:48:00.000-07:00ToR; Baez; Playboy Mansionhttp://www.youtube.com/w...ToR; Baez; Playboy Mansion

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QvTaUWRUkz4&feature=relatedPat Shuffnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2448601238585270507.post-9723336033337428352009-04-13T05:41:00.000-07:002009-04-13T05:41:00.000-07:00Of the three takes of this beautiful song from the...Of the three takes of this beautiful song from the basement sessions, I prefer the first take, where Dylan begins with "Listen" and then starts strumming.

Incidentally, Levon sat "Tears of Rage" out cause he was not in West Saugerties. He was down the Gulf of Mexico working an oil rig. Most of the basement sessions were "Helm-less." He moved back up from Louisiana in the fall and only participated in a few of the recordings that were made at the Wittenberg road house. The first time you hear him on the drums is in "Wildwood Flower."Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06423292585640951641noreply@blogger.com
